Resource
Chester Valley provides special education
services for children with mild disabilities. If you think that
your child is having learning difficulties, and you live in the
Chester Valley attendance area, please talk to your child's teacher
and give us a call or e-mail us through the link. Generally we
schedule meetings with parents on Wednesday afternoons, from
12:45-3:30, or sometimes before school.
Chester Valley has a philosophy of inclusion.
For that reason, we coordinate closely with the classroom teachers
to follow a similar curriculum with our students who receive
services. Children attend all non-academic activities with their
classmates. The amount of time that they spend with the resource
staff, or with modifications in their work, is determined by
the children's Individual Education Plans, or IEPs.
If you have specific questions about
a particular disability, or you just want to meet parents with
children who also have disabilities, you may contact the Special
Education Parent Resource Center (SEPRC). It is located at 1901
S. Bragaw #110, in the old Alyeska Building, which is now called
the Curriculum and Instructional Support Center. They have monthly
and/or bimonthly meetings of parent groups for children with
AD/HD, brain injury, autism, FAS/FAE, or other disabilities.
They also have child care available during the evening meetings.
Call 787-3960 for more information.

The 2002-2003 school year is my 20th
