Otter Lake In, Out and About, 2004
On a foggy Friday afternoon in mid-October, the Chugach community enjoyed
its second great "In, Out and About." This one involved a myriad
of games and activities
at stations all around Upper Otter Lake Park on Fort Richardson. Groups were
formed out of chaos and a bugle blast sent everyone on their way. When the
bugle
blew again, it was time to move on to another exciting activity.

Track Meet 2003
This fun event took place between Chugach Optional and other Anchorage
School district elementary schools took place in May 2003 at Mulcahy
Stadium. Students chose four events that they wished to participate
in. The sports events included the 50-meter dash, 100-meter dash, standing
long jump, relay races, shot put, softball throw and many more events.

World Celebration Day 2003
This is an annual celebration each December at Chugach Optional.
The whole school turns out to celebrate the diversity of cultures in the world with many
activities and food from all around the world. This page has pictures of a typical World Celebration Day.

Family
Science and Math Night, January 2003
This was a fun night in January when Chugach families worked together to
build their science and math skills using lots of hand-on activities.

Pennies for Peace
Students, staff and families at Chugach participated in a two-year drive to
collect one million pennies to give to charities. The project not only
allowed Chugach to give to the greater Anchorage community, but it also helped
students make sense out of math, social studies and other subjects.

Block Kids - April 1999
Block kids is a competition sponsored by the local chapter of NAWIC (The National Association of Women
in Construction). Fourth graders build constructions from legos and other materials.

Chugach Science Share - Annually in March
Science share offers the students an opportunity to explore their imaginations by sharing a science project,
invention, collection, demonstration or report with the rest of the school. The Science Share committee hosts a Family Science Night to help students explore ideas for their projects.

Spaghetti feed is a school-wide fundraiser and winter gathering.

School spirit days are a day to get wacky. They happen most often in the winter when we all feel the need
to let our hair down!

Chugach Optional NetDay - October 19, 1996
We wired the school for Internet connection in one day. Five years later we have eighty computers working in both a local area network and on the Internet.
