SLC’s help our students plan for the future

Dimond High Students had some great opportunities to learn valuable skills about planning for the future this year. One of these chances came at the beginning of the year when we purchased student planners for our freshmen students. The planners were given out in the English classes to any freshmen that wanted them. What we didn’t expect is that our other three grade levels would also want them. After many student requests we were able to get a rush order placed to meet their needs also. It is amazing to see so many students use their planners to plan for their coursework.

Our advisory program is also a place where all grade levels can learn skills about how to plan for the future. We meet about twice a month during an advisory period of 30 minutes with a group of students that learn about setting goals, planning their coursework for their four years here and anticipating future careers, looking ahead to test taking events, and arranging for acceptance to further education and scholarships.
