About Dimond

 

 

A.J. Dimond High School (named after Anthony J. Dimond) opened in 1967 and was the 3rd high school in Anchorage. The original building housed both Dimond High and Jane Mears Junior High School until a separate building for Mears Junior High opened in 1986.

In April 1999, Anchorage voters approved the construction of a new building for Dimond. The new Dimond High School opened its doors to students in the Fall of 2003. Today, Dimond is home to approximately 2000 students and over 180 faculty and staff.

School Mascot
The Dimond mascot is the Lynx. The lynx (Lynx canadensis) is a wild cat native to Alaska, Canada, and the northwest United States.

School Colors
The Dimond colors are maroon and gold.
