ACTIVITY TIDBITS

  • The Dimond Activities Office is open from 7:00-12:15 PM and from 1:00-2:45 PM Monday through Friday. Student-athletes are encourage to sign-up early to avoid long lines as sport sign-up deadlines near.
  • Many Dimond sports and clubs have their own websites/pages. Please visit the Activities section of our Links page.
  • Sports schedules and ASD high school sports information can be viewed at http://www.asdk12.org/activities/high/.
  • The Activity/Sports fee for high school has increased to $160 per activity, beginning with Fall 2007 sports. The fee for 2008-2009 has not yet been set by the school board.
  • Activity/Sports fee family cap is $330 per family per year. Fee may be combined for middle and high school. Save your receipts to show the Activities Office when signing up. The family cap for 2008-2009 has not yet been set by the school board.
  • Please be aware that Dimond Activities Office cannot cash checks or make change for students during the school day. We do have a bill changer for 20’s, 10’s, 5’s, and 1’s; it gives change in quarters only. The changer is located in the student commons.
  • Yearbooks can be purchased from Mr. Sanderson and the yearbook staff in room A113. Click here for more information.
  • Activity Stickers may be purchased from the Activities office for $25.  This sticker allows a Dimond student free admission to all "home" sport events and a $1 discount at all "away" sport events.

MEETING NCAA REQUIREMENTS

  • If your son/daughter is an athlete and has a goal to play in college sports, notify your student’s counselor to insure he/she is taking the required “Core Courses” and has the necessary information to meet eligibility. You can access NCAA information at www.ncaa.org.

COACH ASSESSMENT

  • Students and their parents/guardians are invited to complete a coach assessment at the end of a sport season and submit it to the Activities Office.

MEETING ELIGIBILITY BY JULY 28

  • Athletes must be enrolled in at least 5 ASD classes to participate in sports
  • 4th quaretr/2nd sememster grades will be verified for: 2.0 GPA minimum & 5 classes
    passed; (this rule does not apply to incoming 9th graders until the end of 1st qtr.)
  • Seniors who are on track to graduate (have passed all HSGQE exams and have at least
    18.5 credits) may enroll in 4 classes and still be eligible.

**Late Paperwork:  You may turn in sport paperwork after the posted deadline, however, you will also miss the first day of the season tryout/practice.  This may result in losing your chance to make the team.  To be considered “on time” you must turn in to Mrs. Wheeles:  the Participation Form, a sport physical, and the activity fee---by the deadline.

 

2008-2009 ELIGIBILITY CHECKLIST
*** Complete steps no later than one week prior to the start date ***

The following items must be submitted to Mrs. Wheeles in the Activities Office for eligibility clearance. Forms are available in the Activities Office. Do not submit paperwork to your coach until Mrs. Wheeles clears and signs it.

  1. 2008-2009 High School Athletic/Activity Participation Form
    • Complete the top portion of the form.
    • Do not write in the section below that states . . .”This section to be completed by the Activity Office.”
    • Make sure parent/guardian and student signatures are on the form.
    • Do not remove any page of the two-part form.
  2. ASD Health Examination Form (Physical)
    If you have a current health form on file that will last the duration of the activity, please tell Mrs. Wheeles when submitting your eligibility paperwork. We cannot accept a physical that expires before your sport ends.
  3. Activity Fee
    New fees are being determined by the School Board, and will be announced at a later date.  We accept cash or check payable to “DHS”.  Refunds will be available upon request to the activities clerk, up to the day before the first day of competition in the sport.  Refunds for “cuts” by the coach are automatically mailed home after try-outs.
