During the school year, the Career Resource Center receives 100's of different scholarships available to our students. Scholarships range in value from $100 to multi-thousand dollar packages. All scholarships are dated, and must have attached forms completed and submitted by the deadline.

AK NATIVE TRIBAL HEALTH CONSORTIUM $5,000 UNDERGRADUATE/GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

Open to female seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicant must intend to further her education as a full or part-time student at a 2 or 4 year college. She must be a U.S. citizen. Application must include an official transcript, a two page essay and proof of acceptance before the scholarship award can be sent. This scholarship is based on merit and/or need.

ANCHORAGE REPUBLICAN WOMEN’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must be graduating seniors with a 3.0 or above gpa, residents of the Municipality of Anchorage, and pursuing post-secondary education. Scholarship is based on academics, leadership, community service and commitment toward achieving their goals. An essay of 150-200 words on a public figure you admire and why is required. SAT/ACT scores, transcript, two letters orf recommendation are also required.

ROBERT C. BYRD HONORS SCHOLARSHIP
AMOUNT: (18) $1,500 Scholarships (renewable for 4 yrs, pending funding by Congress)

Open to graduating seniors who will be attending an institution of higher education or a tech school full-time in the fall of 2005. Applicants must have applied and been accepted at said school, be a resident of Alaska and a U.S. citizen. Essay and 3 letters of recommendation required. TEAM CHEER SCHOLARSHIP

Open to seniors who plan on pursuing post-secondary education, who have a gpa of 3.0 or above, are a U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident. Applicant must have participated in a cheerleading squad in 2003, and 2004, and be able to document a minimum of 50 hrs. community service in the last 12 months. Transcript and 2 letters of recommendation.

Applicants must be a senior who have a parent that is a working employee of an AFA Member company. A 1,000 word essay on your knowledge of the forest products industry and a five hundred word autobiography and recommendations from an employee of an AFA member, a teacher and a community member are required.

CREDIT UNION 1 – BILL COUNTRYMAN SCHOLARSHIP
AMOUNT: $500 for graduating high school senior, $500 for student presently enrolled in college

Open to seniors applying for college entrance, students presently enrolled in college and junior–high or high school students, through 11th grade, who are applying for the Johns Hopkins CTY Program. Applicant or parent must be a member of Credit Union 1 as of April 1, 2005. Students who have completed an ASD scholarship portfolio may submit a copy of the portfolio in place of the Credit Union 1 application.

ALASKA FOREST ASSOCIATION MEMBER SCHOLARSHIP

MELISSA JAYNE NEHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Open to seniors who have lettered in one of the following: band, AJROTC Drill, academics, cross country running, Key Club or track and field. Students must have a 3.0 gpa or higher through the end of the first semester of their senior year. Applicant must be in the 2004 graduating class of Dimond High and be accepted at an accredited college or university. A 500 word essay is required.

MOHINDER TALWAR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
AMOUNT: $13,500 UAA Scholarship (tuition - $3,375/yr for 4 yrs)

Open to graduating seniors of A.J. Dimond High School who can show financial need (IRS tax forms will be required), Have a 2.5 or above GPA and plan on enrolling at UAA in the fall of 2004/05. Essay and personal interview required.
