To the East High School Staff:
Hi! I'm the new school psychologist for EAST High School. I have been a psychologist for 20+ years. I have worked as an ASD school psychologist at all age levels (3-21) for the past 16 years, and my previous 11 years have been at Dimond and Bartlett High Schools. (Don't hold that against me!)
My office is located in the curriculum office. I also have a new psychology tech that helps with the academic testing and classroom observations approximately two days a month. Her name is Michelle Conrad. Our phone number is 742-2182.
My job includes evaluating (and re-evaluating) students with learning difficulties, mental retardation, emotional disturbance, or family concerns. At my past schools, I have also worked closely with the counseling department, school nurse, and teachers in dealing with students in crisis situations such as suicide prevention/and intervention, deaths, and other traumatic events.
I work with special education staff members in developing appropriate programs for special education students. I also provide counseling for students with counseling services on their IEP or brief follow-up services for students after a crisis intervention/situation. I also do classroom observations as part of the student's evaluation for special education. If I come into your classroom, please don't panic. I'm only observing how the student performs/behaves in your class!! We are only taking data on the student and a randomly selected peer, NOT the teacher!
If you have any concerns regarding a student or a student's writing sample, please let me know and I will try to help in any way I can. I am at East four days a week. On Mondays, I'm at the Boniface Center in the Related Services Office (742-6050).
I'm looking forward to meeting all of you, and hopefully, remembering everyone's name!
Thanks.
