SUNSHINE SOURCEText Box: Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that ought to be learned. TH Huxley.

Dear Students, Staff, Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,

Welcome to our winter edition of the Goldenview Suns.  The seasonal transformation is complete; autumn has acquiesced to the magical world of winter festooning our Alaskan Community. At this time of the declining year, the message of giving pervades and we are asked to demonstrate what we have done to make the world a better place.  January promises to be filled with the same generous spirit and educational dedication of which Goldenview is reputed.  Winter Break begins on December 22nd earmarking the end of the first semester.   On January 7th our final semester of the 2007-2008 school year emerges and again we ask your assistance as we revisit goals and plans for reaching excellence.   It is our responsibility as educators to constantly set high standards of academic excellence and work together collaboratively with parents and the community to ensure each student reaches his or her individual potential and defines their contribution to society.  Students must have the ability and confidence to apply learning that requires them to think critically and creatively into real-world situations. It is the student’s responsibility to adhere to the essential components of a successful school experience: Be here; Be on time; Be prepared; Turn in all Assignments; Do Your Best; Be your Best; Be one who follows directions.  Please join us in supporting the incredible educational journey ahead which will demonstrate our success as educators and students as we transition into 2008.
