Silver Sentinel
What a great first quarter! 90% of kids had no D’s or F’s on team. We had 47 kids with all straight A’s on team. In celebration of those straight A’s, we had a lunchtime popcorn party on October 26. A special ‘thanks’ to the parents who helped out: Mrs. Iliao, Mrs. Wolfe, and Mrs. Brunstein.
Conferences were great! 92% of Silver students and parents participated. Many parents said they liked the two day conference schedule for the flexibility it gave them in scheduling. There were some glitches to be sure, but they are being worked out. Please email us any comments or concerns you have.
Website wonders never cease! Three great sites that are very helpful to kids can be found by going to Goldenview’s Library home page. The sites are netTrekker d.i., Live Homework Help, and Webcat. netTrekker is an especially effective research tool and can be tailored for 7th and 8th grade levels.
Thanks to Mrs. Ashby, Mrs. Stapleford, and Mrs. Branson for working so hard to update our email list. With this information, more of you should be getting progress reports emailed directly. Of course, they are still being posted to the web also. Also thanks to Mrs. Hoss and Mrs. Ashby for being our all-around team moms!
Here’s what’s happening…….in Mrs. Karnos’s class students should be working hard to have a completed reading log. It is due Dec. 18th. And it is worth major points….FIFTY! …….In Mrs. Greene’s class, Climate and Weather have been the major topics lately. Students have been doing labs, measuring temperatures, figuring our wind patterns, logging onto the internet to do interactive simulations, and have been active participants in some really neat demonstrations. Throughout December students will be working on the great and challenging Chemistry unit!
Reminder. This quarter ends on Dec 20th (before the Christmas break). So we ask that parents and students carefully watch grades during the season rush.
Math 7 help for students and parents. Our book, Mathscapes, provides a free link to the textbook online. Just go to www.glencoe.com, select our State, select student, pick mathematics and Mathscape course 2. Then enter this access code: BBD4B9C4AF. Then you can go to any pages you need to access. Great for showing parents what we’ve been working on, or on those rare occasions when the book is left at school!
Wow, have you noticed our cool new name!
