ASSIGNMENTS

Late Work Policy:
In order to foster responsibility and organization in our students, the Platinum Team has a no late work policy on daily assignments in all of the classes. No credit will be given for late work. Unless otherwise noted, assignments are due at the beginning of the period and will be counted late if not turned in at that time.

Long term projects and writing assignments may be accepted late for partial credit. Deductions will be taken as follows:

Late 1 day = 25% off of earned grade
A project due at the beginning of class is turned in later in the day = 25% off of earned grade
Late 2 or more days = 50% off of earned grade

No Name Papers:
The very first thing a student should do on any assignment or project is to write his/her name on it. If a student turns in a daily assignment without a name, the assignment will automatically receive a zero.

Technology Troubles:
With today’s new technology, the most popular excuse has changed from “the dog ate my homework” to “my printer broke.” As a team, we rarely require that an assignment be typed, so the student always has the option to use paper and pen to complete the assignment. If your home printer breaks or runs out of ink, another option is to save it to a disk and have the student come in prior to class to print it out on a school computer. This should be done in the morning before school, during lunch, or on the student’s own time. The assignment will be counted late if the student comes to class with only a disk in hand. Another option is to have the student email it to themselves or the teacher in order to be printed out at school. Again, this must be done prior to the class period it is due.

Posting Grades:
Grades are posted weekly on the white board in the pod area. Grades are also available online, so they can be accessed at any time. There is no reason that a student should not know his/her grade at all times.
