Spanish

Both 7th and 8th grade Spanish covers is year-long (2 semesters).

7th grade Spanish covers:

Students learn the alphabet, numbers, and other calendar information such as days of the week, months, and seasons of the year . They are able to obtain information and express feelings.  They can present information in various topics in Spanish.

Students will be able to identify the numerous Spanish-speaking countries and learn brief cultural and environmental aspects of these cultures.  They will be able to compare differences in customs and traditions among cultures including their own. They will be able to reinforce knowledge of other discipline through Spanish.

8th grade Spanish:

Students will strengthen their basic skills in Spanish with additional learning strategies and practical application in and outside the classroom setting.  They will continue to communicate in Spanish through role-playing, situation-communication.  They will be writing short poems, learn songs to build up vocabulary. Additional cultural connections through videos, books, internet, and their own personal interpretations.  Part of our curriculum is cultural celebrations.  Students are engage in the preparation of certain chosen festivities including food preparation and costumes.
