1 semester. Successful completion of Algebra I recommended.
May be taken 2 times with a grade of āCā or better to advance.
Grade level 11-12.
In the first semester, students will be introduced to the electrical trade through minor and major electrical projects. Safety is emphasized throughout the course. Students will learn the various tasks electricians complete, including the installation of new electrical components or the maintenance and repair of existing electrical infrastructure. Basic electrical theory is introuduced. In the second semesters, student will continue studies in electrical theory. Student will also learn valuable leadership skills as they direct first semester students through some of the more complex projects.
The coursework for first semester students leads to a nationally recognized certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research in introductory craft skills. Second semester students can earn a second certification, Electrical 1. These certifications can lead a student into a full career as an electrician.
Purchase of safety glasses is required.
