1 semester. Successful completion of Algebra I recommended.
May be taken 2 times with a grade of āCā or better to advance.
Grade level 11-12.
The first part of this course covers the Core Construction Curriculum established by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Six areas of construction covered include Basic Safety, Introduction to Construction Math, Introduction to Hand Tools, Introduction to Power Tools, Introduction to Blueprints and Basic Rigging. Using the Electrical Trainee Guide for NCCER, students will then cover electrical safety, electrical fasteners and anchors, electrical theory one and two with the course then focusing on residential house wiring. Second semester students will cover electrical test equipment, introduction to the National Electrical Code, conduit bending, wiring for raceways, boxes and fittings, and both commercial and advanced residential wiring.
Purchase of safety glasses is required.
