Plumbing & Pipefitting
1 semester. Successful completion of Algebra I recommended. May be taken 2 times with a grade of āCā or better to advance. Grade level 11-12.
The first part of this course covers the Core Construction Curriculum as established by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Seven areas of construction covered include: basic safety, introduction to construction math, introduction to hand tools, introduction to power tools, introduction to blueprints, communication skills, and employability skills. Using the Plumbing Guide for NCCER, students will then cover plumbing safety, plumbing math, plumbing drawings, plastic pipe and fittings, copper pipe and fittings, and fixtures and faucets with the course then focusing on residential house plumbing. Second semester students will cover plumbing math, plumbing drawings, cast iron pipe and fittings, carbon steel pipe and fittings, corrugated stainless steel tubing, drain, waste and vent systems, and water distribution systems, as well as an introduction to the Uniform Plumbing Code.
Purchase of safety glasses is required.
