LibraryWelcome to the Klatt Elementary School Library. All classes come to the library for instruction once a week. We also have times for open checkout during the week when students can come individually to check out books. Here are some websites that will help you find grade level appropriate reading material for your students. Houghton-Mifflin recommended books by grade level. American Library Association recommended books for children. We cover these areas during the weekly library
instruction along with providing time for browsing and checking out
books. Kindergarten students may have one book and all other students
may have 3 books out at the same time. You can access the Anchorage School District library catalog, Webcat, from any computer. For User ID, type KL to see only books from the Klatt Library. Type ASD to see all district holdings. The State of Alaska provides access to many online databases. All residents of Alaska can view full-text magazines, almanacs, encyclopedias and other materials through this link: http://sled.alaska.edu/databases/home.html A good link on that site for finding reviews of children’s books is NoveList K-8. It’s found near the bottom of the “K-12 Student Resources” on the Databases for Alaskans page. The Anchorage Municipal Libraries also have an
online catalog and website. Find out about the summer reading program,
Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales which starts June 3, 2006 at the Reading
