Michael Perkins
My name is Michael Perkins, and I’m pleased to be starting my fourth year as the principal of Mears Middle School. Mears is part of an excellent community, which also happens to be the place that I call home. I’m married to a life-long Alaskan, who also works as an educator. We have two elementary-age children who attend Sand Lake and we feel fortunate to live in this beautiful state. In addition to my job as principal, I enjoy playing the trombone professionally, I love to travel, I’m a huge Seattle sports fan, and I enjoy spending as much time in the outdoors as possible. This year I have an added responsibility to all secondary principals in the state as I take over as the President of the Alaska Association of Secondary School Principals. I look forward to this challenge.

Mears Middle School strives to create a positive, nurturing and rigorous academic environment where all students are successful. I’m committed to making Mears, this community, and the Anchorage School District even better places than they are. If you have any questions, concerns or want to share ideas on how to improve Mears, please contact me at the school at 742-6400 or by email.
