Mrs. Moulton, Principal

Welcome to North Star Elementary School in Anchorage, Alaska! This is my fifth year as principal of North Star Elementary. I enjoy working, learning, and playing with the students, staff, parents, and community. I see our rich diversity as an opportunity to learn from each other as we strive to meet the goals and dreams of our vision statement.

Presently the enrollment is nearly 500 students. We receive student services from Bilingual Education, Indian Education, Special Education, Title 1, and Migrant Education. North Star also currently supports the Title 1 CIT-H (Child-in-Transition-Homeless) program where students residing in shelters attend our school.

We see the school at the heart of the community--a resource where families can get information regarding health, education, recreation, and family services and we believe that North Star can be a place to learn, work, and play together. Together we developed a vision statement and a five year plan that, hopefully, will meet the many diverse needs. The vision statement follows:

"We envision North Star students as confident, creative, literate problem solvers embraced by a community of support. The North Star community, working together, will provide opportunities for students to challenge themselves through interacting with and learning from a variety of sources and individuals. We envision opportunities for students and community members which will cause them to challenge themselves, to develop and pursue personal interests, and to recognize individual strengths. By applying the knowledge, skills, and strategies learned, North Star students will become contributing, knowledgeable and informed individuals and citizens."
