Northwood Elementary is located in the heart of mid town Anchorage, Alaska.  The Staff at Northwood is enthusiastic about working with parents and the community to provide an outstanding educational opportunity for our children during the school year.  The success of what we do depends on a strong partnership between home and school. We know children must have an excellent instructional program and a safe learning environment.  Together we can provide both here at school and in the community.  Our teachers and students are committed to share our school with our community via the Internet.
 
 

Northwood Mission Statement

We serve the children in order to provide a physical, emotional and intellectual environment conducive to learning.  We do this through a supporting network of teachers, students, parents and community working together to encourage children to be lifelong learners.


 

We are committed to do these things:

• Continue to work on curriculum improvement, including implementation of the new social studies, science, and math curriculums.
• Ensure that instruction meets the individual needs and strengths of students.
• Build a sense of community and provide a safe environment by teaching skills of peaceful conflict resolution and appreciation/enjoyment of the wonderful diversity in our school neighborhood.
• Maintain the school-wide discipline plan.
