PTSA Board Meeting

Attendance:
Wendy Feuer, Jenny Redick, Alicia de la Cruz, Karen Grey-Levine

Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 11:20 a.m. Introductions were made.

Approval of Minutes:
There were no minutes from the last meeting to approve.

PTSA Board Membership:
Wendy mentioned that adding more vice-presidents to the PTSA board is possible. There is a question regarding the number of meeting attendees (in relationship to the total number of PTSA members) needed when financial decisions are being made. This body will review the PTSA bylaws and make a determination.

eScrip Update:
There is a concern that members of eScrip need to re-enroll on a yearly basis. This information was not provided to parents during registration and, if accurate, will impact PTSA income this year. Jenny volunteered to contact eScrip about this question. If parents need to re-enroll, they will be given this information at Romig's open house and via a take-home flyer.

Old Business:
Last year, some dissatisfaction was expressed by a Romig parent regarding the sale of magazines as a fundraiser and, in particular, the use of class time for the magazine-drive assembly. Before initiating magazine sales next year (or signing a contract to do so), the board may wish to request feedback regarding whether magazine sales should continue at Romig.

New Business:
PTSA board meetings have been tentatively scheduled for Mondays from 12-1. Wendy will confirm this time/day with Principal Gustafson, and which Monday of the month will be decided at our next meeting, scheduled for September 10.

Volunteers are needed for several important volunteer positions, including chairperson of the cake auction for the music department's fundraising evening and someone to organize remembrances for staff recognition days. Jenny volunteered to contact likely candidates for the staff remembrance position after Karen has finished compiling the results of the parent volunteer surveys that were collected at registration. Janice Torres was mentioned as a possible chairperson for the cake auction, and Ron and Sue Hedge may be willing to help with the memory book if needed.

Wendy advised that the bank signature cards need to be updated to reflect the current officers and new principal as check signers and that prior officers are no longer authorized to sign on Romig's PTSA's account. Wendy moved to resolve that the following members of the Romig PTSA be authorized check signers: Wendy Feuer, Karen Gray-Levine, Alicia De La Cruz, Jenny Redick and Sven Gustafson, and she further moved to resolve that all other previously authorized check signers are no longer authorized, including: Trudy Genne, Judy Hurlburt and Kathleen King. Karen seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Wendy will approach Principal Gustafson about having the PTSA full-membership meeting immediately before the Romig open house on September 13. Debra Fitzgerald will be asked to speak on behalf of the PTSA board, as Wendy will be out-of-town for the meeting.

Wendy will email the Romig PTSA bylaws and the minutes of last year's meetings to the current board.
