On the morning of
February 19th the much awaited author visit of Ben Michaelsen
finally arrived! Romig arranged this visit especially for February
because that is the month that we observe Culture Month. Ben's
book, Touching Spirit Bear, showcases the beauty of Alaska
Native culture and problem-solving. Ben shared his personal story
of what obstacles he had to overcome to become an author. His
testimony of personal struggle to personal success was inspiring
for both students and staff members. His message on bullying prevention
in the school setting was also very strong through out his talk.
His photos of his pet bear riding his horse was also a highlight!
