The Siberian Tiger is almost extinct because people kill them for their skin and certain bones. (Some bones are thought to have healing powers in Chinese medicine.) Males and females only come together for mating, to share kill, or to drink and rest at watering holes in areas with limited water. Tigers are very good swimmers. The tiger has the same genes as the lion, leopard, and jaguar. Tigers are the largest member of the cat family. Siberian Tigers measure about 4.6 to 9.2 feet long, not including the tail. The tail is 69.95 centimeters in length. The Siberian Tiger weighs 180 to 306 kg. They have one to six cubs and they stay with their mothers until their second year. Only one or two survive their first two years. The Siberian Tiger eats wild pigs, deer, and cattle, such as gaur and buffalo.
