The snow leopard is a pretty animal. This animal is going extinct because there are too many poachers killing them so they can sell their fur for money.
They have thick fur that is about five cm long along the back and ten centimeters long underneath. Their coats are very soft with an ashy-brown color. They also have black rosette markings. Its body length is four to five feet long. Its tail is about 90 centimeters and weighs about 25 to 75 kilograms. They live approximately 20 years in captivity. Right now, the population of snow leopards left in Asia is only hundreds. Their cubs are born about 100 days after mating. They have two to three cubs in a litter.
Snow leopards eat wild sheep, marmots, other rodents, hares, and ground-dwelling birds. They are powerful, agile animals capable of making huge leaps to cross ravines or clear other obstacles. Snow leopards live up in high dodendron forests and above the treeline. They also live in caves in rocks and cliffs. They usually live solitarily.
