The Bengal tiger is a big cat. There are six big cats; the lion, tiger, leopard, cheetah, snow leopard, and jaguar. Big cats can roar and of course they are very large.

Bengal tigers are bright fawn to a reddish tan and their underside is white. Over that base color there are uneven black stripes. Each tiger has a unique pattern. They have yellow eyes. They have black a nose, and the pads on the bottom of their paws are also black. Those pads are heavily padded, to make them very quite.

Male Bengal tigers can get up to 11 feet long including their tail, and weigh 400 to 600 pounds on average, though some have been recorded as large as 800 pounds. Female Bengal tigers are much smaller than males. They only get around 8 feet long, including their tail, and weigh 250 to 400 pounds. Bengal tigers are around three feet tall at the shoulder.

Bengal tigers have excellent hearing and vision that help them hunt. They have very strong jaws and long strong canine teeth. Like most other cats they have retractable claws, which can get up to 5 inches long. Their strength is amazing; they can drag their prey long distances to hide it. They are also very strong swimmers.
