All white tigers are Bengal tigers; this is because of a double recessive gene, that no other tigers have. White tigers are not albino, but a mutation. They were first recorded in 1556 AD.
Only twelve white tigers have been seen in the wild, in the last hundred years. A monk caught one of these, and it is believed that all captive white tigers are descended from it. The ratio of white tigers to normal Bengal tigers is one white tiger to 10,000 normal Bengal tigers.
Unlike normal Bengal tigers,
white tigers have pink noses and paw pads instead of black. They
also have blue eyes instead of yellow eyes. White tigers also
grow faster and weigh more than normal Bengal tigers. White tigers
have only been seen in what is now India.
