The Japanese religion we know of today came from a group of scholars who studied the religions, and legends of other countries. Japanese religion also has to do with its shape and geographic position. But they can't get all of the credit because a man named Buddha came and forever changed the Japanese religion. He did it by getting followers and teaching them how to reach their "inner nirvana."
He thought that the only way to reach this "nirvana" was to let go of all material items through heavy meditation and practices.
