Vedic Civilization

During the Vedic Period of History many elements of Hinduism were not present. The Ind-Aryan tribes invaded India in the Vedic period. Many of the missing elements are believed to have come from The Indus culture.

Classical Hindu Civilization

In the Classical Hindu period India was invaded by the Sakas an the Kushanas. Other traditions are based on philosophies by Shankar and Ramanuja of this era. These philosophies are called the Great Classical Darshanas.

19th and 20th Centuries

Mohandes Gandhi was alive during this era. Gandhi used his own form of ahimsa to get reforms of some of the untouchables and to remove the British from India, making India its own nation.
