Spanish Immersion:

Students in grades K-6 may enroll in a two-way bilingual/ Spanish immersion program. In the two-way model, 50 percent of the students in each classroom are native Spanish speakers and the other 50 percent are English speakers desiring to learn Spanish. Students who are native speakers or who are continuing on from Government Hill to Romig Middle School and West High can continue in the Spanish immersion program. Government Hill also houses a neighborhood K-6 program.

Cook Inlet Tribal Council’s Language Arts class is a unique, alternative program for Alaska Native and American Indian students. Our culturally relevant curriculum mirrors the core Language Arts classes at Romig and meets all the grade level expectations required in the Anchorage School District. Students have the opportunity to explore and celebrate their cultures while learning in a small classroom environment with a certified teacher, assistant teacher, and family advocate. Family involvement is strongly encouraged in this course.
