Some people say the aurora makes a crackling or swishing noise. Others say the aurora will come closer to you if you whistle to them.

Scientists don't think the aurora makes sounds, but all over the United sates, wherever there are Northern Lights people have heard sounds.

All the reports I have are from Alaska, but in the Lower 48 there have been reports of sounds. The cities in Alaska are: Fairbanks, Anchorage, Eagle River, and Valdez.
