Felix Pedro

Felix Pedro was an Italian prospector who found gold on the Chena River. Felix was back on his way to Circle City, when he saw a boat steam up and drop someone off. He ran down to see E.T. Barnette, a trader who opened up a trading post where Fairbanks is now located. In 1902 Felix Pedro found gold 12 miles north of Barnette's trading post. Felix had once found a rich gold bearing creek, but he never found it again. Felix was believed to be a drunkard who went to Alaska to find riches. He found his gold near the Chena Slough about 12 north of present day Fairbanks.

Barnette was thinking of moving to Tanana Cross, but Felix made him stay for couple more weeks saying that he made some good prospects, and sure enough he did. He found gold 12 miles north of Barnette's Trading post.
