Cleanup
It took more that 4
summers of cleaning up to clean most of the beaches that were
oiled, but still many of the beaches still remain oiled today.
The cost of the clean up was at about 21 billion dollars. The
cleanup included 10 thousand workers, 1 thousand boats, and 1
hundred airplanes and helicopters.

Techniques
There were many techniques
used to clean off the oils on the beaches, many of them worked
but were some how a little harmful to the beaches. One method
they used was the hot water and cold water technique, these techniques
were used by dozens of people spraying the oiled beaches with
fire hose and spraying the oil into the ocean, then the water
would drift off into these booms. The booms acted as a net catch
all the oil. This technique was very useful but was harming the
area too. The hot water was cooking the small organisms
and they were dying out. Another technique used was known as Bioremediation.
This technique was used but fertilizing the beaches to promote
growth of microscopic bacteria to eat at the hydrocarbons. This
was successful on several beaches that the oil was not too thick.
