This is a Aleut style hunting hat made by Jacob Simeonoff. Steller respected and liked the Natives in the area.

Georg Steller was a naturalist on Vitus Bering's ship, the St. Peter.

 

The Steller Sea Cow was discovered by Georg Steller in 1751. This animal lives in the icy waters of the Bering Sea.
