The habitat of the the Asian elephant consists of areas with many large rainfalls and large amounts of food. These mammals are usually found in forest-like areas. They appear across India, Sri Lanka, Sumatra, and Thailand. But Thailand has cleared almost all of its forests used for wildlife habitat. Elephants generally live in reasonably warm locations, but often travel with the seasons to a warmer climate with larger amounts of food. When seen, they are usually found near muddy waters, where they spend most of their time.
