The Asian Elephants are slowly losing their habitat because of human and environmental issues. The elephants have also been taking a part in ruining their own habitat. One part the elephants take in ruining their own environment is when they roll around and play in the area where the water holes are. Because of this, it is now virtually impossible for the elephants to drink from many of their water holes. The other big problem with elephants habitat loss is due to the fact that the human population is increasing quickly. Humans are now creating buildings where the elephants' homes used to be. Humans don't realize the damage they're causing for the elephants.

In some places, though very few, there are laws stopping the growth of the human population in order to save the species such as the Asian elephant. Humans have also cleared forests, which should belong to the elephants, for the use trees they have planted. This loss has lessened the food sources of the elephants. There also have been fires and other natural disasters that destroy the elephants' habitats. When the elephants have run out of food source they have to migrate to other parts of the region to fulfill their eating needs. Often when this happens they invade human crops, the humans try to drive them away by starting fires or shooting them, which has killed off many elephant herds.
