The Red Panda population has declined severely. In an effort to save the species, scientists and zoologists have tried breeding them in captivity. Unfortunately as with other species, Red Pandas do not breed well in captivity.
Though the the Red Pandas do not have many predators their main animal predators are snow leopards and yellow-necked martins. Predators kill adult Red Pandas if they can find them but it is very rare. These predators mostly steal and kill cubs. This is a horrible blow to the population.
Another threat to the red pandas are livestock. Strange as it is, the livestock has taken over 60% of the Red Pandas habitat for grazing. Since livestock is not wild they are not formally considered predators. Although they do as much damage as real predators.
Humans are one of the Red Pandas' main threats. They also suffer from illegal hunting and capturing. Though this occasionally happens it is not very common. With cutting down their habitat and taking their food, we have accounted for a huge population decrease. Hopefully with the efforts being taken. Red Pandas will make a comeback and be here for a long time.
