Bonsai Trees

By: Rachel Newell

Bonsai are trees grown in pots. They are not genetically adapted to be dwarfed, and do not "come" that way, but are trained with wire and different techniques to keep them from growing to full size. They are a type of art and an old culture, and becoming more popular and noticed. They were shown on a GCI advertisement as well as featured in the movie, Karate Kid.
