What's the problem you ask? The problem in India is that the population is almost a billion and poverty is very high. Poverty means being very poor and not being able to get things you really need. Over 35% of people live below the poverty line.

In India villagers struggle for the bare essentials in life. For example, women walk miles for a pot of water and the water doesn't last that long. Some Indians can bathe twice a day, wash their pets, and wash their car every day while others can't even get clean water for drinking and cooking.

In India women and children are the worst sufferers. Sometimes the children from slums get pulled into India's job market. Half the children are malnourished and over 60% of women are anemic. Anemic means having low iron which sometimes makes you sick and lose weight. Some people in India have dirty homes that are infested with germs. A lot of the diseases come from drinking dirty water or cooking with dirty water that has bacteria.

One year millions of people died from malaria which spread from unhealthy and unclean living conditions. The population did decrease, but not by very much.

Now you know what the problem is. Overpopulation leads to very poor living conditions for many people in India.
