
The Himalayas have many different cultures in it. The Nepalese people are known to live mostly in rural areas of Nepal. A large portion of their culture consists of a nomadic or seminomadic. Although most Nepalese people live in rural areas the population of Nepal has doubled compared to the 1990 census last taken. Today there are 2 people per a square kilometer ( 5.2 people per square mile). With the increase in population came better health care and food supplies. the Nepalese people's economic consists of trade, tourism, and farming. Lhasa is the capital and the biggest city in Tibet. This is where the people of Nepal can go for education and work. The major religious city in Tibet is Xigaze (Shigatse). The Nepalese people of Tibet practice Hinduism and Buddhism. Shigatse is home of the Panchen Lama, the second most important leader in Tibetan Buddhism after the Dalai Lama.

Nepal has two major ethnic groups. They are the Indo-Nepalese and the Tibeto-Nepalese. The Indo-Nepalese came from the South and the Tibeto-Nepalese came from the North in China. The two different groups have linuistic, cultural, and religous differences. The Indo-Nepalesemostly have peolpe that speak Sanskrit and are strict believers of Hinduism. The Tibeto-Nepalese have many different ethnic groups, such as: Newar, Bhutia, Sherpa, Gurung, Magar, Tamang, Rai, and Limdu.
