The Great Wall of China of China was built over 2,000 years ago. It a huge wall that zigzags through the mountains of Korea. The wall was rebuilt from time to time after the Qin Dynasty. The first 1,500 miles were built from 215 B.C. to 206 B.C. under the command of the first Emperor of China, Qin Shih Huang during the Qin (Ch'in) Dynasty (221 B.C.-206 B.C.).The emperor was a book burner and often sent free thinkers to be slaves for him working on the great wall. He intended to build the wall to keep out nomadic invaders from the north. The Chinese call the wall the, " Wan LI Qanq Qenq," which means 10,000 LI-Long wall (10,000-LI = 5,000 km).

Construction of The Great Wall began in the 700 century B.C. The Vassal States under the Zhou Dynasty in the northern parts of China all built their own walls for defense purposes. In 221 B.C. the state of Qin unified with China and joined walls to hold off invaders from the Xinongu tribes in the north. This stretched the wall 10,ooo-li (5,000 km). This is the beginning of the, "10,ooo-li Great wall."
