The Seminar School (TSS) |

The Seminar School is an option for 9-12th graders at Service High School. 9th graders may choose to take their Language Arts (English 9-1 and 9-2) and Social Studies (World History 1 and 2) in a two-hour block in The Seminar School. The Seminar School's curriculum is built upon the consideration of classic texts and the use of Socratic seminar. Improved reading comprehension, a rigorous writing program, and the development of critical thinking are among the skills emphasized throughout the seminar classes. The staff and students create a sense of community emphasizing independence, trust, personal responsibility, and inquiry. Small groups of students work together in understanding the readings.
