A number of teachers at South Anchorage High School have begun to post student grades on the Anchorage School District’s web site. These pages allow parents and students to check grades from any computer with access to the internet. Protected by password and saved on the district’s own server, they are placed on a secure, non-commercial site. Students have found it convenient to check on their current grades and missing homework from computers in the library and labs before school and during lunch.

Access is through the individual teachers’ Site Builder pages, found linked from the South Anchorage home page. ( http://www.asdk12.org -> Schools / High -> South Anchorage High School) Each student has an individual password which will work for each of the teachers who are posting grades. Opening the grade file through the teacher’s site gives users a chance to browse other information that the teacher has posted, but it is also possible to bookmark the pages directly.

With almost 90% of SAHS teachers posting grades regularly, most of the core classes are now listed. Some teachers though have chosen a variety of other methods of communication with parents.
