PSAT - October 20, 2012The PSAT is given only once each year and is excellent practice for the SAT. It is also the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for this year’s juniors. For many students the PSAT is the first official step on the road to college.
The PSAT is recommended for all juniors. Sophomores are also encouraged to take the PSAT to practice for the official results when they take it their junior year.
The PSAT will be given this year on October 20, 2012, here at South. The test begins promptly at 8 a.m., so students should check in by 7:30. Registration will begin in October at the South Career Resource Center. The cost will be $16.
Test results should be returned by the College Board in December. Counselors have the actual test booklet used by each student and will return the test booklet along with the student’s scored answer sheet to each individual. This gives students the opportunity to review and further prepare for the SAT, or in the case of sophomores, for next year’s PSAT.
