WHO NEEDS TO ATTEND REGISTRATION AUGUST 3-6 TH?
All students – new to the district, new to South High and all returning students need to come to their designated registration day and time. Students with siblings may come on the same day, though there are many things designated on freshman day that will be helpful to all incoming freshmen.
WHY DO I NEED TO REGISTER AND ACTIVATE MY SCHEDULE?
Picking up your schedule on registration days ensures that you are activated for the coming school year. Many students move over the summer and schools are not notified. Thus, any student who does not get activated has their schedule dropped. Only students attending registration and going to each station or requesting that their schedules be held for later pickup are activated.
WHERE WILL THIS TAKE PLACE AND HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
Registration Stations start at the Gym Entrance. There will be stations set up to turn in new shots, fill out necessary forms, receive ID cards, pay for lab fees and
Parking passes, and receive locker assignments. The whole process usually does not take more than 45 minutes, depending on the lines. We are closed for lunch from 11:00 – 12:00 each day.
WHAT ABOUT IMMUNIZATIONS?
State of Alaska regulations require all students to be current on their immunizations to register. All students, new and returning, need to be cleared by our nurse Luann Fogels before receiving a schedule. The school nurse sent notices to all parents informing them of any shots due before the start of school.
WILL WE NEED TO PAY FOR ANYTHING?
Fines will need to be paid for. Parking permits require $50.00 per semester, Activitiy Pass is $25, Yearbooks can be purchased (order now for $70.00), Lab Fees for lab classes need to be paid at schedule pickup, and the school store will be open for the purchase of South wear sweatshirts and tshirts.
WHAT IF WE CAN’T COME AT THE ASSIGNED TIME?
Schedules can be picked up on any of the four days. Please come on your alpha day and time if possible, but siblings may come together or if you have a conflict you are welcome to come on any of the four days.
HOW WILL LOCKERS BE ASSIGNED?
All returning students are assigned their same lockers for their entire stay at South High. No students need to share lockers. All new students and incoming 9 th graders will receive their locker assignments at Registration.
