From the counselor’s desk:
Welcome to another great
year at Tudor. My name is Cindy Richardson and this is my sixth year as the
counselor at Tudor. My primary role at the school is to be a prevention resource to
students and that prevention aspect of my job is accomplished through guidance
lessons. I will be teaching lessons in all grade levels. Skills that will be
taught include – listening, problem solving, making and keeping friends,
resisting peer pressures, conflict resolution, goal setting, communication,
cooperative behaviors, study skills and feelings. Very often students will
bring home something they completed during a lesson to share.
In addition to classroom lessons, I offer support groups. Referrals are accepted all year and
participation requires a signed permission form. These lessons will occur
during the school day. Small groups may
focus on anger management skills, friendship skills, life stressors,
self-control tips and are designed for students who need more support than is
typically found in a large group lesson.
If you feel your student could benefit from inclusion in a small group
please call me or send in the attached permission slip with your child.
Counselors are also here for parents and family
members who may need suggestions or strategies or if you are concerned about
changes in behavior or attitude. I have
numerous parent resources as well as many years of practical knowledge working
with children and families.
We appreciate being made aware of any special
circumstances that may impact your student and his/her ability to do well at
school. Please contact me at 742-1050 if you need any support.
Thank you. Cindy Richardson
