During some recent renovations at West the courtyard next to the old cafeteria was dug up and two time capsules found. They are metal boxes with no identifying marks on them as to when they were buried or by whom. If your class remembers burying a time capsule in that location please get in touch with us. The West High Alumni Association is committed to enhancing sports, academic, and leadership opportunities for the students at West.The West High Alumni Association has a program of awarding grants to provide students with opportunities above and beyond those covered by Anchorage School District funding. To submit a grant request please complete the Grant Application Form pdf file or rtf file. It may be submitted to either the Chair of the appropriate area via email or a paper copy may be submitted to the WHAA box at West High.
The Alumni Association supports five broad areas of funding:
The Scholarship/ Community Support/ Raffle Assistance Committee accepts requests for college scholarship assistance from West High seniors; for emergency assistance to members of the West High Community; and from support groups who wish to conduct fundraising raffles to benefit school organizations. The Sports Committee accepts requests from coaches and team booster clubs for sports activities of West High Students. Chair: Shannon Brady Garman
The Academics and Teacher Support Committee accepts requests from teachers and sponsors of academic organizations at West High. Chair: Bob Bannon
The Performing and Visual Arts Committee accepts requests from teachers and sponsors of drama, debate, forensics, voice, band, orchestra, dance and visual arts organizations at West High. Chair: Ardy Pozzi
