Caps for Chemo Club

This club is being formed with the primary purpose of knitting and donating caps for people undergoing chemotherapy. The club will encourage faculty and community member to also knit and donate these caps. The club also hopes to create awareness and sensitivity to people suffering from cancer.

NHS primarily recognizes scholastic achievement, leadership, and an outstanding personal character.  Our goal is to provide a base of support to encourage continued academic accomplishment and personal character growth.  Entrance requirements are a 3.2 GPA for three consecutive semesters.

Partner’s Club is sponsored by Special Olympics Alaska.  The club provides an opportunity for students with and without disabilities to get to know each other through sports like bowling and track and field, and through social activities and community service projects.

Phi Phi Phi strives to spread the word that math is beautiful. Members who are in at least Algebra II and have at least a 3.0 math GPA are eligible for full membership in Mu Alpha Theta, the national high school and two-year college mathematics honor society. Anyone interested is welcome to participate in the club. Club members provide math tutoring, participate in various math competitions, and celebrate math everyway possible.

Polynesian Cultural Club

The purpose of the Polynesian Club is to share the traditions and customs of Polynesia with the West High School community through a number of activities. In doing so we hope to promote a positive image and decrease negative stereotyping and discrimination.

Rifle Club

This club promotes safety in the sport of shooting and supports the West Rifle team through fund raising and public relations. It provides an organization for competition outside the ASD Rifle season, such as Junior Olympic competition.

Dedicated to the recruitment of students and encouragement and promotion of rowing in Anchorage.  Members will receive knowledge of boat terms, rowing styles/techniques, training, nutrition, teamwork, leadership and fundraising.

The Troupe is the honors component of the school's theater program for the advancement of standards of excellence in theater.  The troupe will encourage students to attain better mastery of the theater arts and will reward those who achieve it with induction.
