Success for All Reading - Early Learning
Children in kindergarten enjoy theme-based learning experiences which develop their oral language, leading to reading success.
Notes:
The kindergarteners have several themes throughout the year. Some are Healthy Me, Kenya, Special Me, Community Helpers, Space, and Plants. Their learning activities center around these themes. They listen to stories, play games, do activities, and learn centered around each theme. By the spring, the kindergarteners are introduced to reading.
Dustin is building a skeleton for the Healthy Me theme. The other children are trying on Japanese kimonos and looking at Japanese artifacts.
