Children are grouped across grade-levels for their 90 minute reading block. This is an uninterrupted time for children to be taught at their own instructional level. Every possible teacher at the school takes a reading group, thus reducing the size of reading classes.
The Roots portion of the program teaches the children the sounds and strategies they will need to be good readers.
The two children are partner reading. The other group is getting ready to celebrate reading by listening to one or two students read aloud to the group.
