FLY TYING, Part 1
Sponsored by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and the Alaska Fly Fishing Association.
Fritz Kraus, biologist from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, coordinated our classroom's fly tying experience. He and other volunteers, arrived early to set up all their equipment, and pass out materials for students to use. Bennie demonstrated fly tying technique for the students. He was video taped and his image was projected onto the TV in our classroom.
Each student made four flies that represented the four different life stages we see while rearing coho salmon at school: fertilized eggs, eyed eggs, alevin, and fry.
