| At ice fishing I learned the difference
between a hybrid and a king salmon. A king salmon has an adipose
fin and a hybrid doesn't. |
| Ice fishing was fun and smelly because
I finally caught one salmon! |
| I think that ice fishing was very
enjoyable because my dad was there and I caught the most fish
in the class. Altogether I caught 6 king salmon and my whole
class caught 30 king salmon and 7 hybrid! When I held my fish
up to have my picture taken, it felt slimy, and I got scales
all over my gloves. |
| I learned how to ice fish. The best
thing I liked about ice fishing is that we caught fish and we
had fun out on the ice. I also caught my first fish for the very
first time. |
| I really like ice fishing because it was actually
my first time going fishing. When we arrived, I looked around
and saw there were people catching the fish. I saw two boys trying
to pull up their fish, so I went over next to them to fish. I
baited my hook and one Fish and Game biologist came over to help
put my hook in the little hole. I waited for a fish to try to
eat my shrimp and then suddenly I felt something and I was extremely
happy. I yelled, "I caught one!" Then a man came over
to help me pull it up and this lady got my name and told me that
I will get a certificate. Then I took a picture with my fish.
It was slimy and it was trying to get back in the hole, but I
didn't let it because it was my first time catching a fish. I
was really proud of myself. |
| We went to Jewel Lake to go fishing. First we
got into teams and then we got poles and bait to go ice fishing.
I caught three fish: two kings and one hybrid. They were really
slimy. I was glad when I caught my first fish in a hole in the
ice. |
| We went on a field trip to Jewel Lake to go ice
fishing. We used little poles and shrimp for bait. A lot of the
students were first timers catching fish. It was really exciting.
Sometimes the fish steals the shrimp and gets away. The whole
class caught fish, even some teachers. You had to make sure you
didn't step in a hole or else you would be cold. |
