Column A needs to be larger, so place the cursor over the line that separates column A from column B and drag to the right until it is the size you want. See below.

Highlight columns B through M. Then, go to Format, Column, Width and change the size.

You should be left with a grid that looks like this:

In Column A, type a list of 10 words related to an academic subject (science, math, language arts, p.e., computers, art, band, etc.). Use caps lock to do this. See below.

Now start putting in the words in the grid. Use caps lock
to do this. Words can go up, down, sideways, backwards, forwards, and diagonally. The object here is to fit as many words in as small a place as you can. See below for an example of a section of a word search.

Next, you need to change the font color of each word that you just entered. (For most words, just highlight and change the color. For diagonal words, press Open Apple and then click on each letter and it will only select the cells you click on).
Now, just fill in the rest of the cells with any letter. The word search must go to Column M and down to at least Row 20.
Finally, make it look nice. Go to Format, Cells and do these things:
1. Go to Alignment and select "Center" in both the Horizontal and Vertical menus.
2. Go to Patterns and select a a fill color (select plain for the pattern).
3. Go to Border and select "Outline" so there is a line around the outside of your word search grid.
Save. You are now finished! See the example below:
