Grading System and Policies

Each student will be graded on effort and skill achieved, based on the following point system:

Student Effort and Skill Grading Maximum Points Per Day

If you dress out and participate with full effort, & increased skill level to your best ability..5 points

If you dress out in the proper dance attire and participate in a full class...................... 5 points

( Proper Dance Attire: Leotards, jazz pants & dance shoes with your hair up.) Extra Credit

If you do not dress out, do not participate or do not have an excused absence............0 points

Tardies: Each tardy subtracts 5 points from your total class score............................-5 points

Tests and Project Points

Skills Tests given at random times a semester......................................................10 points

Choreography and research projects each are.....................................................100 points

Each Student is Required to

Dress Out in: Shorts or sweats & t-shirts (any loose fitting clothing)

Participate the entire period: You must participate the entire period to get credit. Participation is based on your effort, attitude & conduct. If you choose to have a bad attitude, or are disrespectful me or your peers, you may not receive full or any credit for that day.

Attend class: Each class is graded by points that are added to make your final grade. If you are absent you will loose points unless it is an excused absence, and you make it up. If it's an excused absence, call the attendance office or bring a note from your parents, so I will grade you correctly.

Class rules and policies:

Have a positive attitude: Be open minded and show a caring and attitude toward others.

Bathroom Passes: Use the bathroom before coming to the dance studio, there are no bathroom

passes during class except for emergencies.

NO FOOD, DRINK or GUM in the dance studio: Except H2O bottles, label with your name on it.

TheTelephone, the Stereo and my office: are off limits without my permission.

Do not bring valuables or $ to class!!! If you do, put it so it can be seen during class.

No Street Shoes on the dance floor!!! If I see you with street shoes you will sweep the floor!

School Policy: Soda and snack machines will be off limits during class time.

In case of a fire drill bring shoes & a sweatshirt to every class.

Please do not leave class before the bell rings

Tests: You will be expected to learn dance & stage terminology, and be prepared to be tested. Projects:

You will be expected to perform in the end of the semester dance performance.

You will be expected to do a research project on a famous dancer or dance company.

You will be expected to choreograph a dance in a group and perform it for your dance class.

Make-Up Policy; You may make-up points lost, only if you have an excused absence by:

1. Creating a warm-up or dance routine, and teaching it to your classmates to be in class.

2. Assisting in preparing for a performance or activity, or backstage projects.
